Description

This course introduces students to some important concepts that can help them make more informed decisions about how to work with data, while at the same time, introducing some of the tools professionals use when working with data. Students learn the basics of working with data: how to acquire it, store it, visualize it, and disseminate and interpret information about it in a responsible and ethical way.

  • Starting in Fall 2025, the Data Literacy Lab requirement will be its own 1-credit course. IDST 111L will use a hybrid format, meaning most of the work will be done online each week, with six in-person sessions throughout the semester (usually every other week).
