Dr. Goldberg’s first loves are Shakespeare and Plato (he holds degrees in Classical Greek, Literary Criticism, and English Literature). The primary focus of his teaching at UNC since 1989, has been a sequence of courses in which students discuss classics of political thought from all genres—philosophy, literature, history, essay, economics, and science–ranging from the ancients through the twentieth century.
